Rights of Swing is a 1961 album from American alto saxophonist Phil Woods, recorded by Candid Records A&R man and founder Nat Hentoff. Woods’ resume includes works with Dizzy Gillespie, Bill Evens, Milt Jackson, Michel Legrand and a long run with Quincy Jones. Already a seasoned player and bandleader when he cut these sessions at New York’s Nola Penthouse Studios, the album consists entirely of Woods’ five-part “Rights of Swing” suite. Featuring Sahib Shihab, Buddy Catlett, Granville Roker, Osie Johnson, Julius Watkins, Tommy Flanagan, Curtis Fuller, and Benny Bailey. Remastered 180g vinyl LP.
